Applicants to the doctoral program must hold a master's degree and have at least 9 months of work experience or have completed residency training in medical specialties.

To apply for the doctoral program, applicants must have one of the following certificates confirming proficiency in a foreign language (English, German, French):

English Language:

  • International English Language Testing System Academic (IELTS Academic) - minimum score of 5.0;
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language Institutional Testing Program Internet-based Test (TOEFL IBT) - minimum score of 35 points;
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language Institutional Testing Program (TOEFL ITP) - minimum score of 417;
  • TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) - minimum score of 550;
  • Duolingo English Test - minimum score of 80;

Individuals with a TOEFL ITP certificate take an additional English language proficiency test before the doctoral entrance exam.

The additional English language proficiency test consists of 100 questions. The maximum score is 100 points.

The additional English language proficiency test is assessed as "pass" or "fail." To receive a "pass" grade, a minimum of 75 points is required.

The date, time, and location of the additional English language proficiency test are communicated to applicants through their personal account on the national testing center's information portal.

The certificate for the additional English language proficiency test conducted from August 4 to August 20 is valid until December 1 of the current calendar year.

The certificate for the additional English language proficiency test conducted from November 18 to December 11 is valid until March 1 of the following calendar year.

German Language:

  • Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang Level B1 (DSH, Level B1) - not lower than level B1;
  • TestDaF Exam Level B1 (TDF Level B1) - not lower than level B1;

French Language:

  • Test de Français International (TFI) - not lower than level B1 in reading and listening sections;
  • Diplome d'Etudes en Langue Française (DELF) - not lower than level B1;
  • Diplome Approfondi de Langue Française (DALF) - not lower than level B1;
  • Test de connaissance du français (TCF) - not lower than level B1.

Mandatory possession of the KAZTEST certificate (levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1). Applications for participation in entrance exams are accepted on the website of the National Testing Center of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan https://app.testcenter.kz during the following periods:

  • from July 3 to August 3 of the calendar year (summer admission);
  • from October 26 to November 10 of the calendar year (winter admission).

Entrance exams are held during the following periods:

  • from August 4 to August 21 of the calendar year (summer admission);
  • from November 19 to December 11 of the calendar year (winter admission).

The entrance exam consists of the following blocks:

  •  an interview with the applicant conducted by the university's examination committee;
  • writing an essay (Essay Topics)
  • answering examination questions related to the profile of the educational program group (Examination Questions).

Entrance exams are held during:

  • from August 4 to August 20 of the calendar year;
  • from November 19 to December 11 of the calendar year.

Candidates admitted to the doctoral program on a state educational order on a competitive basis must score at least 75 points in the entrance exam.

The entrance exam consists of the following blocks:

  • an interview with the applicant conducted by the university's examination committee;
  • writing an essay;
  • answering examination questions related to the profile of the educational program group.

The final grade is a combination of scores obtained by summing up the results of assessing the essay, answering examination questions related to the profile of the educational program group, and the interview.

Three hours and 30 minutes (210 minutes) are allocated for the entrance exam to the doctoral program, including:

  • 20 minutes for the interview;
  • 190 minutes (3 hours 10 minutes) for writing the essay and answering examination questions related to the profile of the educational program group.

Individuals with disabilities affecting vision, hearing, or musculoskeletal functions are granted additional time of up to 60 minutes upon presentation of a disability certificate approved by the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated June 29, 2023, No. 260 "On approval of the Rules for conducting medical and social expertise" (registered in the Register of State Registration of Regulatory Legal Acts under No. 32922).

The interview for candidates entering the doctoral program is conducted independently by the university before the entrance exams for the "Essay Writing" and "Answering Examination Questions Related to the Profile of the Educational Programs Group" blocks.

The interview aims to assess the professional and personal qualities of the applicant, as well as the potential for conducting scientific or experimental research.

The interview is conducted remotely using video communication.

The certificate for the entrance exam conducted from August 4 to August 20 is valid until December 1 of the current calendar year;

The certificate for the entrance exam conducted from November 18 to December 11 is valid until March 1 of the following calendar year.

Admission to the doctoral program on a fee-paying basis is based on an international certificate confirming proficiency in a foreign language in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (standards) and the results of the entrance exam related to the profile of the educational program group of the doctoral program, with a minimum score of 75 out of 100 possible points.

Admission to the doctoral program is carried out during the following periods:

  • from August 15 to 28 of the calendar year (summer admission);
  • from December 26 to January 10 of the calendar year (winter admission).

List of documents for admission to the Doctoral Program:

  1. Three copies of the identity document;
  2. Education document with an attachment (master's diploma) (original and one copy);
  3. Official certificate of passing the state language exam (KAZTEST) at any level, issued by the NCT, except for foreign citizens;
  4. Certificate confirming proficiency in a foreign language (English, German, French);
  5. Medical certificate form 075/u (original and one copy);
  6. Six photographs sized 3x4 centimeters;
  7. Document confirming employment in accordance with the Labor Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, except for foreign citizens;
  8. List of scientific publications for the last 3 calendar years (if any), research plan, and essay;

When providing an incomplete list of documents, the university admissions committee does not accept documents.

Admission of foreign citizens to study in the doctoral program on a fee-paying basis is based on the results of an interview conducted by the university admissions committees throughout the calendar year (education documents issued by foreign educational institutions are recognized or nostrified in accordance with the legislation).
