Categories of Students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Students with special educational needs (SEN) include individuals with health limitations, including persons with disabilities, as well as learners belonging to socially vulnerable groups. This category also covers students experiencing temporary or recurring learning difficulties who require adaptation of the educational environment, teaching methods, and pedagogical tools, along with academic and socio-cultural support during their integration and adjustment to university life.

Under the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, students with special educational needs include those from socially vulnerable categories of the population:
Hearing impairments
Visual impairments
Speech disorders
Intellectual disabilities
Mental development delay
Musculoskeletal disorders
Emotional and volitional disorders
Autism spectrum disorders
Multiple developmental disabilities
Low-income families
Students admitted under the rural quota
Large families
