The environmental event was held in Kostanay as part of the EcoZhas project, which promotes environmental ideas among young people and volunteers and supports the principles of the Taza Qazaqstan initiative.
The event was organised by the Neco Environmental Club Public Foundation in partnership with the Kostanay Region Akimat’s Department of Public Development.
More than 170 environmentally conscious young people took part. The event was held as an environmental competition, with teams collecting and sorting waste.
The Department of Natural Sciences team brought together first- to fourth-year students from three academic programmes: Biology, Chemistry, and Geography. Led by Olga Chernyavskaya, our students collected more than 600 kg of waste and claimed a well-deserved victory.
This year, the Department of Natural Sciences launched the initiative project Design and Scientific-Methodological Support for the Activities of the Centre for Environmental Education and Initiatives. One of the project’s objectives is to encourage volunteering among students and faculty members.
Participation in the Clean Games was the first significant step in this direction.
