Science Brings People Together

Baitursynuly University hosted the research seminar “Conceptual Biology and Ecology”, bringing together biology teachers, ecologists and specialists from Kostanay and the surrounding region.

The event was organised by the Centre for Environmental Education and Initiatives within the Department of Natural Sciences at KRU’s Pedagogical Institute.

The seminar aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of how living systems develop and function, and how they interact with the environment.

The session was led by Sergey Kurlov, a Senior Lecturer in the department who holds a master’s degree. It provided an opportunity to exchange experience and explore new approaches to studying biological and ecological processes.

Participants examined key concepts in modern biology, from molecular and cellular processes to evolution and ecology.

Particular attention was given to methods for analysing complex natural processes, developing conceptual models and working with scientific literature.

Participants also discussed how to identify cause-and-effect relationships in nature and apply their knowledge to practical challenges.

The seminar was moderated by Galiya Ruchkina and Olga Borodulina.

The discussions highlighted the close links between biology, ecology and the challenges facing society today. Understanding natural processes, analysing scientific information and recognising connections between different phenomena help develop research skills and encourage environmental responsibility.

The seminar marked an important step towards strengthening cooperation between the university and regional schools and advancing environmental education.
