"NPP is the guarantor of the future"

This is the name of the conference at which the prospects of nuclear energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan were discussed today at Baitursynuly University.

The conference was attended by students, young scientists and university professors.

The speakers were teachers of the Department of Mathematics and Physics - Yuri Petrovich Martynyuk and Mikhail Mikhailovich Dunsky. Young scientists told in detail about the practice of using nuclear power plants in the world, about the development of the nuclear industry in Kazakhstan, about the principles of operation of nuclear power plants.

The students asked how quickly a nuclear power plant can be built in the Republic of Kazakhstan and how effective it is for energy, how safe it is for the country.  The scientists explained that this is a safe and necessary solution to maintain the energy balance in the country. Electricity consumption is growing every year, and the sources available in the Republic of Kazakhstan simply cannot cope.

In a Message to the People of Kazakhstan dated September 2, 2024, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted:

We must think about the future, taking into account the long-term national interests and the specifics of our country. Therefore, I have always insisted on the need to make a well-thought-out decision on the construction of a nuclear power plant, and a broad discussion of strategic plans in society."

Call that the republican referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan will be held on October 6
