To commemorate the dual anniversary, the Kostanay Region Branch of the National Basketball Federation, the Tobol Basketball Club, and Baitursynuly University organized an interactive traveling exhibition that brought together several generations of athletes.
The opening ceremony took place at the Pedagogical Institute of Baitursynuly University. The venue was chosen deliberately. For decades, these walls have been the birthplace of the region’s sporting traditions, nurturing outstanding coaches and shaping future champions. Today, the Department of Theory and Practice of Physical Culture and Sports continues to train the next generation of sports stars.
The exhibition brought together everyone passionate about basketball — athletes, fans, and those who have contributed greatly to the development of the sport in the region. The official opening of the unique exhibition was led by the Rector of the university, Seitbek Kuanyshbayev.
“We wish our young people to always strive for excellence and to win only the highest honors on the sports arena!” the Rector addressed the audience.
Notably, this spring, students of Baitursynuly University achieved impressive results at the National Subject Olympiad, winning prize places and once again confirming their status among the country’s strongest competitors. As noted by Senior Lecturer of the Department of Theory and Practice of Physical Culture and Sports Sergey Volkov, the university’s students have consistently maintained their position among the nation’s leaders for several years. In recognition of their achievements, they received letters of appreciation to the applause of participants at the anniversary exhibition.
The exhibition itself was far from a collection of ordinary stands with dusty trophies — it became a true interactive portal into the history of sports. Students and guests had the opportunity to try on legendary jerseys once worn by Kostanay players during their victorious seasons, take vibrant photos for social media, receive autographs from basketball stars of Kostanay, and personally meet legendary figures of the sport.
The exhibition will remain in Kostanay only for a short time. On June 15, it will travel to other districts and cities across the region, as the entire region joins the anniversary celebrations.
