Discussing the Role of the New Constitution

Faculty members of Akhmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University participated in the scientific and practical conference “The New Constitution: An Institutional and Legal Foundation for Sustainable Development,” dedicated to the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On June 30, KRU faculty members, led by Rector Seitbek Kuanyshbayev, took part in the conference online. The event was hosted by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The conference brought together representatives of government institutions, the academic community, expert organizations, international institutions, and higher education establishments. Its primary objective was to discuss the role of the new Constitution as the foundation for political and legal reforms, the strengthening of the rule of law, the enhancement of mechanisms for protecting human rights and freedoms, and the further development of Kazakhstan's democratic institutions.

The conference was moderated by Elvira Azimova, Chair of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the plenary session, presentations were delivered by prominent public officials, scholars, and international experts.

Key speakers included Lyazzat Kaltayeva, Adviser to the Chairperson of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Richard Albert, Professor of Law at the University of Texas; Thierry de Montbrial, Executive Chairman of the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI); Bakyt Nurmukhanov, Deputy Chair of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Kanat Musin, Rector of the Academy of Justice under the High Judicial Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Aigul Kosherbayeva, Academic Secretary of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Zhaksybek Kulekeev, Academic Director of the Center for Applied Economic Research; and other leading national and international experts.

The speakers addressed a wide range of issues related to the implementation of constitutional reform, the promotion of inclusiveness and equality, the strengthening of constitutional guarantees for the protection of human rights, socio-political consolidation, and the role of human capital in the country's sustainable development.

Participation in the conference provided the faculty of Akhmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University with an excellent opportunity to exchange professional experience, discuss current trends in constitutional law, and strengthen cooperation between the academic community and public institutions.

KRU faculty members actively participate in scientific and expert forums aimed at advancing legal scholarship, promoting legal awareness, and strengthening the democratic values of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
