Hangul, Certificates and DREAMS

A certificate award ceremony for graduates of the Korean language courses was held at the King Sejong Institute at Kostanay Regional University.

For many students, this day became a true celebration and another step toward fulfilling their dreams — studying, working, or traveling in South Korea.

The institute is named after Sejong the Great, the fourth king of the Joseon dynasty who ruled the Korean Peninsula.

It was he who created the Korean alphabet, Hangul, in 1446.

The institute branch at Kostanay Regional University began operating in 2024 in partnership with Dong-Eui University.

Its main mission is teaching the Korean language and promoting Korean culture.

This semester became the institute’s fifth overall and the first semester of 2026.

Seven groups studied under the guidance of two instructors — Lee Chihoon and Lee Yunho.

In total, 62 students received certificates.

“This year, the rules for obtaining certificates have changed,” said Nagima Manasbaeva, Director of the King Sejong Institute. “To advance to the next level, students must now attend at least half of the classes. In addition, for certificates to be valid for visa purposes, students must score more than 70% on the exam. These certificates include a photo, a QR code, and a special identification number.”

The institute takes particular pride in students enrolled in the dual degree program with Dong-Eui University (“Automotive Industry Engineering”), as well as participants in academic mobility programs.

All of them successfully received their certificates and will continue studying the language this summer through intensive courses featuring 10 hours of classes per week.

During the ceremony, the most dedicated students were also recognized. Special nominations were awarded to those who did not miss a single class, as well as to students with the highest exam scores.

An interesting fact: the youngest course participant is only 13 years old, while the oldest is 62. It is never too early or too late to learn something new — join us!

In just two weeks, the institute will launch a new summer semester. Although it will be shorter than usual, the classes will be more intensive. This means students can expect even more practice, new knowledge, and opportunities to get closer to their Korean dream.
