KRU hosted its annual first-year student festival, “Hello, It’s Us!”
This time, the newcomers introduced their degree programmes through their favourite cartoon characters.
A fresh take on familiar stories, with a student twist!
The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, for example, chose Shrek.
Played by a student, the green ogre knew little about university life. So Donkey and top student Fiona explained why studying matters and what programmes the faculty offers.
The festival’s main aim is to help first-year students find their feet at university, learn the names of their departments and degree programmes, get to know one another and showcase their talents.
After all, they will be spending the next four years side by side. Why not start with a celebration together?
The audience was not alone in appreciating their creativity.
“Congratulations on your first major events at university! I was amazed by just how creative KRU students are,” said Aruzhan Sarsenbayeva, Chair of the regional Zhastar Rukhy youth wing.
“Every performance had its own original approach. It was wonderful to see you take everyone’s favourite cartoons and reinterpret them in your own way, while also showing why your chosen field matters. A great deal of work went into that.
“Above all, stay true to your chosen path. Your student years are one of the most important periods of your life, and there is so much to look forward to. So show what you can do, don’t be shy and get involved.”
And the one who outshone them all… was SHREK himself.
The festival’s WINNER was the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities @fsgn_kru_baitursynuly.
But there were no losers here. One thing was clear: KRU has welcomed the very BEST first-year students.
Congratulations to us all!
First-years, welcome to student life!
There are plenty more stories ahead of you, each worthy of its own cartoon.
THANK YOU to the organisers — the Youth Policy Department and @baitursynuly_parliament — and to the jury for their support!
