As part of the elective course “Psychologist for Yourself,” on May 3, students participated in a training session titled “How to Overcome Loneliness.”
The session helped students expand their understanding of loneliness, its positive and negative aspects, and improve interpersonal communication skills as well as strategies to cope with feelings of isolation.
Participants explored why people feel lonely and how to overcome this emotion. Practical exercises focused on how one’s worldview, beliefs, needs, behaviors, attitudes, and personal mindsets affect communication, its adequacy, realism, and constructiveness. Students concluded that loneliness is a complex phenomenon—it can be pathological or normal, a conscious personal choice, or a consequence of life challenges.
The training was conducted by Tatiana Voloshina, Head of the Center for Practical Psychology.
