KRUVISION Brings Us Together

Baitursynuly University has announced the results of its annual singing competition, which celebrated its fifth anniversary this autumn!

KRUVISION is a competition for vocalists.

Through music, each contestant introduces the audience to the culture of their chosen country, exploring its history, traditions and distinctive outlook on life.

The result is KRU’s own mini-musical, bringing together different countries and cultures.

Since 2022, the competition has been organised by KRU’s Youth Policy Department and @baitursynuly_parliament.

Its main aim is to bring students together through creativity.

“By helping our students discover their creative talents, we celebrate the diverse cultures and traditions of the peoples living together in peace in Kazakhstan. This is a competition where everyone can be themselves,” said Diana Rakpanova, Head of KRU’s Youth Policy Department, during the semi-final.

The fifth season of KRUVISION began with auditions last December.

The winter semi-final featured nine talented and charismatic singers. Today, four finalists took to the stage to compete for the title of KRUVISION 2026’s top vocalist:

The final consisted of two rounds.

In the first, contestants presented musical performances dedicated to their chosen countries.

They had to demonstrate their vocal abilities while conveying each country’s distinctive character, history and culture.

The second round put their vocal skills to the test.

Some moments from the evening deserve a special mention.

In the second round, master’s student Ablai performed Surf Mesa’s “ILY,” dedicating it to his beloved wife.

It was a personal and moving declaration of love shared from the stage.

Fellow finalist Aruzhan performed KeshYOU’s “Туған жер” (“Homeland”).

Her performance brought the entire audience together. Spectators sang along, and some were even moved to tears.

The lezginka dance performance also deserves a special round of applause!

Particularly impressive was the move in which the dancer deftly sweeps his papakha, a traditional fur hat, around his partner. The gesture symbolises respect, admiration and a willingness to protect her.

Then came the most eagerly awaited moment of the evening…

KRUVISION 2026’S TOP VOCALIST — NARKYZ YERKINKYZY!

“With every rehearsal, I improved my singing and met new people,” the winner said. “In the final, I represented the USA with Tori Kelly’s ‘Don’t You Worry ’bout a Thing.’

“KRUVISION will always hold a special place in my heart as a wonderful memory.”

Congratulations to Narkyz on her well-deserved victory! We wish her every success in her future creative endeavours.
