The Smart Center of Kostanay Regional University (KRU) has turned into an arena of intellectual battles — hosting the Kazakhstan Draughts-64 Championship.
Seventy-six of the strongest players from 16 regions across the country competed for the national title in three disciplines: classic, rapid, and blitz.
The main mission of the tournament was to identify the nation’s top players, support young talents, and demonstrate that draughts is a sport of strategy, analysis, and composure.
The event brought together men and women, youth under 23, and juniors under 20 — representing the entire geography of Kazakhstan. The atmosphere was intense, and each match told its own story of skill and determination.
The championship was organized by the Kostanay Regional Youth Draughts Federation, with the tournament led by Arman Kakashov, Senior Lecturer of the “Sunkar” Sports Club at KRU.
For Baitursynuly University, this was more than just a championship. The university once again reaffirmed its role as an intellectual hub open to sports, science, and innovation.
