The IV festival of short documentary films KozQaras 2025 was held at the Department of Journalism and Communication Management. The competition program included 14 student works from four universities in the nominations "Journalism" and "Directing".
The films were evaluated by an expert jury, which included: Valeria Suleimenova - editor of the Alau TV channel; AlmataiZhusupova - professor of the Department of Journalism and Communication Management; Yana Garkusha - correspondent of the newspaper "Nash Kostanay", author of documentary films; Vladimir Fayl - mobileographer.
The winner in the nomination "Directing" was a 3rd-year student Ayazhan Shadykhanova (KazNAI) with the film "Yerbolat Kasymovich". Supervisor - senior lecturer of the Department of Screen Arts Directing Ainur Akhmetzhanova. The experimental film "Clean City" by fourth-year student Kristina Fritz (KRU) won in the "Journalism" category. The project manager is senior lecturer of the Department of Journalism and Communication Management Ainur Suleimenova.
In addition to the jury, the competition entries were evaluated by viewers - students, teachers and schoolchildren who attended the film screenings on February 26 and 27. The films in the "Directing" category were particularly actively discussed: "ZHETPIS" (directed by Askar Duisebayev) and "Sheberkhanada" (directed by Bolat Kalymbetov). Their authors Alika Chernyshova and Kaisar Bekeshev won the Audience Choice Award. In the Journalism category, the audience votes brought victory to Alina Groznykh, Karina Kolisenova and Alexey Taakh (directed by Aisulu Mukhanbetzhanova) for the film about domestic animals "Behind the Door".
The KozQaras 2025 festival once again demonstrated the high level of student documentary work and confirmed the importance of developing this genre in media education.
