Powering the Future

A lecturer from Baitursynuly University joined a panel of experts to discuss the future Kazakhstan’s energy sector.

Held on April 8 at the Tolstoy Regional Library, the meeting aimed to raise youth awareness and competence in green energy, while exploring key challenges and opportunities in developing Kazakhstan’s energy sector.

Among the speakers were Professor Gainiya Yeseeva, a deputy of the Kostanay Regional Maslikhat, and Associate Professor Galiya Ruchkina from the Sultangazin Pedagogical Institute.

The panel covered key issues in Kazakhstan’s and Kostanay’s energy sectors, including the growth of green energy, current industry trends, and future prospects. Experts emphasized the importance of expanding renewable energy to boost local production, reduce dependency on other regions of Kazakhstan, and Russia as well.

School and university students actively joined the discussion, asking questions and sharing insights. Speakers stressed that the future of Kazakhstan’s energy industry depends on preparing qualified professionals through targeted, hands-on education programs.

The key takeaway was the need to use regional potential to advance the green energy. Transitioning to renewables would not only cut fossil fuel use but also help improve the environment and quality of life.

Organizers expressed hope that this panel would spark new ideas and initiatives to build a strong and efficient energy system in Kazakhstan.
Students from the Biology, Geography, and Ecology programs at Baitursynuly University, together with representatives from the Spandiyar Kobyeyev School in Kostanay, attended the event.
