A research center for collaboration with scientists from the University of Arizona (USA) is planned to open at Baitursynuly University.
Dr. Shane Campbell Burgess, PhD, a professor from the University of Arizona, arrived in Kostanay to discuss cooperation between Kostanay and American universities.
The goal of this collaboration is to develop the region’s agro-industrial complex, enhance its innovative potential, and boost its competitiveness.
Professor Shane Burgess is particularly interested in research in increasing crop yields and livestock productivity.
During his visit, he met Kostanay region's Akim, Kumar Aksakalov, and the Rector of Baitursynuly University, Seitbek Kuanyshbayev. They discussed food security, scientific approaches to agricultural development, endangered famous Kostanay horse breed, the need for an in-depth soil toxicology research, water resource monitoring, and more.
Following the University of Arizona delegation’s spring visit to Kostanay, a preliminary agreement was reached to establish a research center at Baitursynuly University.
The center will focus on scientific analysis and research in the fields of meat and dairy livestock breeding, horse breeding, and field crop cultivation.
The regional authorities have already allocated land for the university to conduct joint field studies.
During his visit, Professor Burgess also toured several agricultural enterprises, which are Baitursynuly University's partners: "Kazakh Tulpary" LLP, "Zarechnoye" LLP, and "Satchikovskoye" LLP.
