Daniil Khristinetsky, a student of Baitursynuly University, participated in the ornithological camp “Mangystau Bird Camp” as part of the mega-project “Hyrasia One.” Collaborating with birdwatchers and ornithologists from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria, Georgia, and Azerbaijan, Daniil studied over 100 bird species migrating along the Caspian Sea coast.
The project was supported by The Nature And Biodiversity Conservation Union, Germany (@nabu_international), EcoMuseum (@ecomuseum.kz), Biodiversity Research and Conservation Center (@brcc.kz), Regional Environmental Expert Network of Central Asia (@green_ca_network).
Birdwatchers and ornithologists employed diverse monitoring techniques, including visual observation, identifying bird calls, tracking feathers, nests, and traces, as well as using camera traps and audio recorders. Participants divided into groups and covered vast areas, forming an observation “wall.”
Being a Biology educational program student, Daniil gained invaluable experience during the camp. He now shares his knowledge with members of the university's birdwatching club under the Department of Natural Science Disciplines, where he serves as the leader.
