Baitursynuly University Team Shines at Kazakhstan’s Largest Offline Hackathon Decentrathon 4.0

Over 2,000 teams from 20 cities across Kazakhstan, totaling 4,825 participants, competed for a prize pool of $20,000 plus 16 million tenge.

The AI challenges presented to the participants were real-world problems posed by the event’s key partners: inDrive, Bank CenterCredit, and bcc hub.

For 48 hours, teams worked intensively on cases related to mobile technologies and fintech. Perhaps the greatest reward was that the best solutions would be implemented in practice.

The largest IT event took place on September 13-14, and the results have now been announced.

KRU staff member Andrey Unru, who participated in developing AI cases for inDrive, made it to the Top 15, achieving 14th place.

Andrey proposed functional modules and their usage scenarios to inDrive, including a heatmap reflecting trip intensity in grid cells, which also highlights “meeting points” — locations with stable demand and low risk.

Use cases include selecting pickup points and analyzing daily dynamics. He also developed “safety beacons” indicating grid cells with anomalously low or high speeds, suggesting safer routes.

His proposals also addressed pricing, coverage, and proportional driver distribution challenges.

Andrey’s project presentation, titled InDrive GeoTracks, garnered significant interest.

He presented the project’s value for the company and implementation strategy, accounted for potential limitations and ethical considerations, demonstrated architecture and data flow, developed basic formulas and algorithms, and outlined a roadmap for project development.

Decentrathon 4.0 was organized offline by the Blockchain & AI Technology Center (BAITC) in partnership with Astana Hub and supported by the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan Jaslan Madiev noted:

“Kazakhstani youth have tremendous potential. Their ideas rapidly transform into prototypes, combining enthusiasm with tangible results. Such projects enable participants to go beyond academic assignments, tackle real challenges, and learn from experts.

This accelerates the growth of young talents, empowers them to confidently face the future, and find their place in the tech environment.

This is how a new generation of specialists ready to work with artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technologies is formed.”

Other KRU students who participated in Decentrathon 4.0 include Dmitry Naumenko, Aibek Alekesh, Maxim Zadorozhny, Yryskul Myrzagalieva, Nurali Bolatuly, Edgar Volodkin, Kalybek Maulenov, Nikita Gresko, Andrey Malygin, Nikita Dyachkov, Karakat Sairan, Andrey Semenov, Anastasia Ovchinnikova, Laura Nurmagambetova, Nikita Guzenko, Asanali Saparov, and many others.

Thank you all for your participation! Onward to new achievements!
