Historical Experience and Modern Challenges

On November 8th, Baitursynuly University hosted the international scientific and practical conference, “Transformation Processes in the Administrative Management System in Central Asia, 19th to Early 20th Centuries.”

The event was part of the implementation of the grant research project, “Russian imperial institutions and local governments in the Turgai region (1868 - 1917): adaptive practices of the colonial system,” led by associate professor of the Department of Natural Science Disciplines of the U. Sultangazin Pedagogical Institute, Maisara Bekmagambetova.

Participants included representatives of the international academic community from France, Turkey, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, and Kazakhstan, with contributions from cities such as Astana, Almaty, Aktobe, Semey, Karaganda, Taraz, and others.

The conference served as a platform to discuss issues related to Russian imperial policies toward national peripheries in the context of postcolonial reflection.
