Inclusion at an Expert Level

A research and practice laboratory has begun operating at KRU under the Center for Inclusive Education and Psychological Support.

Faculty members of the Department of Psychology and the Department of Pedagogy, Psychology, and Special Education have joined forces to develop a professional development course titled “Creating an Inclusive Educational Environment at a University.”

The demand for such training among the university’s academic staff is high. Over the past two years, the number of students with special educational needs has increased by 166%. This trend is expected to continue, driven by inclusive processes at all levels of the education system in Kazakhstan.

The creative development team from KRU—Madina Kaparova, Aina Rakhmatullina, and Saule Aitkuzhinova—discussed the course content and distributed responsibilities for preparing course materials to be размещed on the MOODLE platform in the state language, Russian, and English.

The program’s experts will include Lyudmila Likhodedova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences and Associate Professor of the Department of Pedagogy, Psychology, and Special Education at the U. Sultangazin Pedagogical Institute of KRU, as well as Rimma Bekturganova, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, expert of the Center for Inclusive Education and Psychological Support, and Advisor to the Rector of KRU.

Thus, the Center for Inclusive Education and Psychological Support of KRU is fulfilling its mission to ensure equal opportunities for students with special educational needs to progress along the university’s educational pathway and successfully complete their studies.
