His presentation, entitled “Agriculture in Kazakhstan: Education, Science and Machinery,” focused on the current state of Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial sector. The researcher highlighted the considerable agricultural potential of grain-producing Northern Kazakhstan, supported by its advantageous geographical location, extensive land resources, and favorable soil and climatic conditions.
Particular attention was given to the research and educational potential of Baitursynuly University, as well as to the results of Maksat Amantayev’s own research. Participants were introduced to modern tillage and seeding machinery used in Kazakhstan and discussed the prospects for its application as innovative agricultural technologies continue to develop.
Maksat Amantayev’s visit is part of the Visiting Scholar Program at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, one of Türkiye’s leading universities in agricultural education and research. Other Baitursynuly University researchers participating in the program include Liliya Baizhanova, Raushan Amantayeva, and Nurzhanat Moldagaliyeva.
From July 8 to August 18, the Kazakhstani researcher is working at the Department of Biosystems Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture at TOGU. During his stay, he is studying the distinctive features of Türkiye’s agricultural sector, exploring advances in Turkish agricultural engineering, and exchanging expertise with colleagues under the guidance of Professor Engin Özgöz, Head of the Department.
The two sides have already discussed prospects for joint research and scientific publications. Key areas of interest include the comparative analysis of tillage machinery in agrolandscape farming systems, the wider use of intelligent agricultural equipment, and the application of agricultural drones in precision farming. These technologies can help reduce energy consumption in soil cultivation, improve weed control efficiency, and enhance mulch management practices.
Following the meeting, Professor Resul Gerçekcioğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, presented Maksat Amantayev with a letter of appreciation. Representatives of the Faculty and the Department of Biosystems Engineering also expressed their interest in expanding cooperation with Baitursynuly University.
Priority areas for future collaboration include joint educational programs, academic mobility, collaborative research, and PhD training.
“In Türkiye, as in Kazakhstan, sustainable development of the agro-industrial sector and advances in agricultural engineering are given high priority. This provides a strong foundation for long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation,” Maksat Amantayev noted.
