Career Guidance, But Make it Different

The Department of Natural Sciences of the Kostanay Regional University’s Pedagogical Institute is trying out creative new ways to approach career guidance.

Teachers believe that personal growth starts with discovering one’s interests early – and helping them grow over time.

They recently introduced a fresh and more engaging take on career guidance.

Partnering with chemistry course students, the team hosted a hands-on science day for fifth-graders from School No.19 in Kostanay.

The school’s administration fully supported an unconventional idea.

Students explored the paleontology museum, biology and chemistry labs, played a detective game called “The Koloboks Are Investigating” – and even took a juice break to recharge.

Everyone took something away: schoolkids got excited about science, university students showed their talents in chemistry, and teachers tested new methods for early career guidance.
