Engineers of the Future

School students from the Kostanay region are spending their holidays productively - at the Engineering Academy of Baitursynuly University.

This project is successfully implemented at the university as part of a cooperation agreement between Baitursynuly University and the regional Department of Education. Its main goal is early career guidance.

It is worth noting that for the second consecutive year, engineering has remained one of the most in-demand fields among school students. The Day of Engineering Competencies brought together more than 100 schoolchildren from across the Kostanay region.

The event served as a platform for introducing participants to modern engineering fields, educational opportunities, and practical skills.

Elmira Nauryzbayeva, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, delivered a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of engineering professions and outlining the prospects for the sector’s development in the region.

According to the Vice-Rector, the Day of Engineering Competencies represents another step toward forming a new generation of specialists capable of advancing the technological potential of the region.

Bergen Kalakov, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Energy and Information Technologies, presented the faculty’s academic programs, with particular emphasis on dual-degree opportunities and student academic mobility.

Students enrolling in mechanical engineering programs at the university have the opportunity to study simultaneously in South Korea, while future IT specialists are already participating in dual-degree programs with a U.S. university.

Damir Mnaydarov, Director of Qostanai Hub, spoke about the development of the IT sector and presented the “Join the Unicorn Game” project—an initiative aimed at building a startup ecosystem in the Kostanay region. Participants have the opportunity to present their ideas to experts and take their first steps in entrepreneurship.

The practical part of the event included a wide range of workshops and intellectual competitions.

School students tried their hand at 3D modeling and virtual reality, explored the fundamentals of materials strength, participated in electrical engineering sessions, learned drone control, and engaged in electronic device design.

In addition, classes in engineering graphics and descriptive geometry were organized, along with mathematics and physics олимпиads and even a simulation-based business game titled “Mechanical Storm.”

The eventful day concluded with a visit to the university’s partner enterprises - AgromashHolding KZ JSC and TEHNOPARK KZ LLP - where the students had the opportunity to observe the real-world application of engineering knowledge in industrial production.

The Engineering Academy format helps school students take their first step toward their future profession. The participants actively engaged in competitions and workshops, asked questions, and demonstrated genuine interest in engineering careers. Many have already expressed their desire to connect their future with Baitursynuly University.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
