Engineers of the Future

A partial event of the "Engineering Academy" project took place here in Baitursynuly University. The program was jam-packed – from an introduction to the university, Pizza Pitch, and workshops, to an excursion to the region’s largest automobile factories, where participants saw engineering teams in action.

The event was organized in cooperation between KRU, Department of Education of Kostanay region as well as numerous university’s partners: “Allur”, KamLitKZ LLP, and AgromashHoldingKZ JSC. More than 70 schoolchildren from 22 schools across various districts and cities gathered for the occasion. Elmira Nauryzbaeva, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Akhmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University, greeted the students in the Smart Center:

“As you all know, engineering is the profession of the future. Mechanical engineering is booming in Kostanay right now, while our university does its best to keep up. The very next academic year, we will be admitting students for a dual-diploma program in partnership with Dong-Eui University.  This will be a golden opportunity for you to earn two diplomas and secure a highly sought-after place in mechanical engineering. Aside from that, KRU already offers many other educational programs related to engineering, and I am confident that each of you will find a profession that suits you.”

At Pizza Pitch, the students learned how to properly implement their engineering ideas and startups. Damir Mnaidarov, the regional manager of Astana Hub of the Kostanay region, explained the opportunities offered to young entrepreneurs and IT specialists.

Some of the students, already no strangers to engineering, had the chance to demonstrate their skills and gain new knowledge at early career orientation workshops. Master classes on electronics. as well as an introduction to electric power engineering, 3D modeling of parts, and a practical session on using measuring instruments were all held for the schoolchildren. Meanwhile, the accompanying teachers attended “Preparation for Informatics Olympiads" workshop.

The excursion to the factories “Allur”, KamLitKZ LLP, and AgromashHoldingKZ JSC was equally exciting, as the students saw engineers in action and learned about new production technologies.
