The Department of Natural Sciences at the U. Sultangazin Pedagogical Institute held an open round-table discussion on the topic “Demographic Processes in Modern Kazakhstan,” which took place in both online and offline formats.
During the round-table discussion, participants discussed the demographic issues facing Northern Kazakhstan. Unfortunately, certain demographic indicators for the region are showing a negative trend, particularly in the Kostanay and North Kazakhstan regions. The discussion included proposals to improve socio-economic conditions as a factor influencing population growth.
The presentation by PhD, Associate Professor of M. Kozybayev University, Saltanat Ismagilova on the topic “Migration Processes in Northern Kazakhstan in the Modern Era” was particularly interesting and beneficial for students. Additionally, presentations were given by second-year Master’s students specializing in Geography, 7M01505: Daulet Kudabayev on “Modern Demographic Challenges of the Kostanay Region,” Jaslan Zhabegenov on “The Role of External Migration Processes in Population Change in the Northern Region,” and Zarema Murzakayeva on “The Demographic Situation of Astana City.”
The event was attended by students of the “Geography” program, representatives of stakeholders: A. Gorky Gymnasium, Alihan Bokeykhanov Secondary School, the Physics and Mathematics Lyceum, Secondary School No. 15, as well as faculty from L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
The round-table discussion was moderated by Gaukhar Baubekova, Viktoria Koval, and Zarema Murzakayeva.
