A World of New Discoveries

Master’s student from Baitursynuly University studying in China shares her experience

Zhanerke Kulakhmetova, a Master’s student at Baitursynuly University, is currently studying in China. As part of a dual degree program, she is pursuing a specialization in Agronomy at the Northwest A&F University (NWAFU).

She shared her most vivid impressions of studying abroad with us.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

“Studying in China has been an incredibly rich and productive period for me, full of new discoveries—both academically and culturally.

From the very first days at NWAFU, I was deeply impressed by the high level of academic organization and the university’s modern campus facilities. Lectures and seminars are conducted by true professionals. For example, the lectures by Professor Shan Weixin gave me deep insight into plant molecular biology, genetics, and biotechnology. What made the learning process especially valuable was the integration of theory with practice—working in state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with the latest technology.”

A DAY TO REMEMBER

- “Without a doubt, the most memorable day was when we began working at the National Key Laboratory of Crop Stress Resistance. Being part of such a prominent scientific team tackling global issues like food security and sustainable agriculture is both a great honor and an invaluable experience. There, I not only deepened my theoretical knowledge but also gained practical skills that will form a solid foundation for my future career.”

THE ATMOSPHERE

- “Living and studying in the science town of Yangling—rightfully known as the Agricultural Capital of China—is truly inspiring. This place has a unique atmosphere where science, nature, and rich history intertwine. I’m sincerely grateful to the university for creating comfortable conditions for international students and for the opportunity to immerse myself in the local culture and traditions of Shaanxi Province.”

THANK YOU!

-“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the leadership of Baitursynuly University for giving me the opportunity to participate in this dual degree program. This experience has significantly broadened my professional horizons and helped me build connections with researchers and students from around the world.

Most importantly, it has changed the way I see the modern challenges in agricultural science. Although my studies are still ongoing, I already feel that I’ve taken a crucial step in my personal and professional growth. I am confident that the knowledge and experience I’m gaining in China will contribute to my development and strengthen scientific cooperation between our countries and universities.”
