Course Opportunities

At the Department of Natural Sciences of Kostanay Regional University, a forum-seminar titled “Environmental Education in Training Future Teachers: Challenges and Solutions” was held as part of the Innovation Panorama of the Pedagogical Institute.

The Center for the Study of Teaching Methods in Natural Sciences thus launched the Festival of Pedagogical Strategies for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — “Environmental Education for Sustainable Natural Resource Management.”

The festival program was developed in accordance with the quality assurance requirements of higher education at the Umirzak Sultanagazin Pedagogical Institute and is aimed at implementing the priorities of the United Nations and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The objectives of the program include:

A discussion on “Environmental Education in Training Future Teachers: Challenges and Solutions” was held at the department, addressing the role of teacher education in implementing SDGs within the educational programs “Chemistry,” “Biology,” and “Geography,” as well as modern approaches to environmental education through minor disciplines offered by the Department of Natural Sciences.

The faculty has accumulated significant experience in project-based learning. The courses “Environmental Design” and “Geourbanistics of Kazakhstan” were highly evaluated in terms of their contribution to sustainable development and the formation of environmentally and socially responsible individuals.

Olga Chernyavskaya, Balzhan Tulebayeva, Tatyana Bragina, Elmira Yergaliyeva, Bibigul Baymaganbetova, Sergey Kurlov, and Galiya Ruchkina presented their work in the areas of “Use of Digital Resources in Environmental Education” and “Sustainable Natural Resource Management as an Educational Module.”

Irina Buzmakova, Deputy Principal of School No. 19 in Kostanay, noted that interdisciplinary connections among natural science disciplines play a significant role in fostering environmental responsibility, which is effectively implemented through the department’s affiliated branch activities.
