At the international scientific and practical conference “Transition from Online to F2F Education: Bringing Distance Learning Strategies to the Classroom” in Petropavlovsk, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Philology Elena Kandalina gave a presentation on the topic “Modifying Curriculum for Project-Based Learning”.
The presentation was based on her own experience of using project-based learning after participating in the Kazakhstan-USA partnership project #WPI #usinkz. Elena Kandalina showed examples of interdisciplinary projects and shared a link to students' projects created as part of the course "Innovative Technologies in Teaching Foreign Languages".
The presentation was interactive: participants identified the strengths of project-based learning and generated a list of words describing such learning using the Mentimeter apphttps://www.menti.com/, worked in groups, discussing aspects such as translingualism, project-based learning and intercultural competence, and then demonstrating the results of the discussion.
Thus, Elena Kandalina showed the participants how the first steps of project development are carried out. The teachers who attended this presentation noted the relevance of the topic and the wide possibilities of using projects in teaching a foreign language. The audience was especially interested in the website projects created by students.
