The Department of Natural Sciences at Baitursynuly University held a methodological seminar titled "Pedagogical Conditions for the Self-Realization of Participants in the Educational Environment of Small-Scale Schools."
The event was attended by university faculty members, school teachers from the Kostanay region, as well as undergraduate and graduate students and alumni.
The Head of the Department of Natural Sciences, Gauhar Baubekova, reminded attendees that there are around 8,000 schools in Kazakhstan, 67% of which are located in rural areas, and 51% of those are small-scale schools. Kostanay region ranks among the leaders in the number of such schools.
Svetlana Okhrimenko, a chemistry and biology teacher from Krylovka Secondary School in the Sarykol District, shared her experience in developing scientific literacy in small-scale schools.
Tatyana Anikina, a geography and primary school teacher from Akzhan Basic School in the Timiryazev District of the North Kazakhstan Region, analyzed the challenges of teaching geography in small-scale schools under the pressure of improving education quality.
It is worth noting that there are already tangible results from the collaboration between Baitursynuly University and small-scale schools. These include supervision of research projects, methodological support in the development of teaching materials, joint high-level publications, and both theoretical and practice-oriented events.
The seminar proposed new forms of coordination and collaboration to promote the successful self-realization of teachers and students in small-scale schools. Participants also discussed the potential for collaboration between developers and stakeholders to improve undergraduate and graduate educational programs offered by the Department of Natural Sciences.
