Expanding Horizons Without Forgetting Your Native Language

As part of the Innovation Month organized by the Department of Philology and Practical Linguistics at Ahmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University, an educational contest titled “Know Many Languages, Respect Your Native One” (“Özge tildiñ bärin bil, öz tiliñdi qurmette”) was held.

The event brought together first-year students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Energy and Information Technologies, as well as the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.

The main objective of the contest was to promote the state language among young people, strengthen national values through the Kazakh language, and develop students’ skills in fluent communication within a linguistic environment.

The competition program included several creative and intellectual stages: “Introduction,” “Wit,” “Who Is Faster?”, “Find a Solution,” and “Show Your Talent.”

Students were divided into three teams and demonstrated ingenuity, logical thinking, and a strong command of the Kazakh language.

Participants answered logic-based questions, completed situational tasks, and continued proverbs and sayings, showcasing their quick thinking and linguistic competence. In addition, students presented theatrical performances reflecting national traditions, vividly highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the Kazakh people.

The program also featured traditional games, where participants demonstrated agility and strong team spirit.

At the end of the contest, the winners were announced and awarded special diplomas for their active participation, talent, and knowledge of the Kazakh language.
