Psychologist: A Highly Essential Profession

Alumni Association Forum of the Department of Psychology Held at Baitursynuly University. A forum of the Alumni Association of the Department of Psychology of KRU titled “Prospects for the Development of Psychology: Standards and Competencies” was held at Baitursynuly University.

The forum aimed to promote professional psychology, facilitate the exchange of experience between different generations of students, strengthen professional connections, and support the employment of graduates.

The event was organized by the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of KRU.

The forum brought together faculty members, students, and alumni who are currently practicing psychologists.

The professional success stories of the university’s graduates clearly demonstrate that the profession of psychologist is in high demand across various fields.

Among the invited guests was school psychologist Aslan Manatov from Gastello village, Akmola Region. He spoke about the work of psychologists in the educational sector, focusing on the issue of bullying among children and methods of prevention and psychological support.

Zhanar Semenova, a psychologist at the Disaster Medicine Center of the Kostanay Region, and military psychologist Madi Nurmukhanov shared insights into the work of psychologists within government and law-enforcement structures.

Their responsibilities include personnel diagnostics, staff recruitment, sociological research, and psychological counseling for employees.

Specialists working in the business sector also delivered presentations. In this field, psychology is closely connected with marketing and the study of consumer behavior, including needs, motivations, and factors influencing decision-making.

Private psychologist Tatyana Shcherbinina discussed the specifics of private practice. Specialists in this field provide individual counseling, family therapy, and group training sessions. Their work is aimed at addressing emotional, personal, and interpersonal issues, as well as improving clients’ psychological well-being.

The KRU graduate emphasized that personal therapy and professional supervision are especially important for private psychologists, as the profession involves significant responsibility for the psychological well-being of individuals.

Senior Lecturer of the Department of Psychology Olesya Yelchishcheva highlighted that the profession of a psychologist requires continuous development and lifelong learning.

According to her, specialists must regularly upgrade their qualifications and continuously improve their professional skills.

The forum experts also encouraged future psychologists to actively develop their professional competencies and strictly adhere to ethical standards.
