US Embassy and KRU: Prospects for Cooperation

Today, the Kostanay Regional University named after A. Baitursynov was visited by the Attaché for Culture and Education of the US Embassy Amber Ora.

The meeting between the university management and representatives of the US Embassy was held within the framework of the university’s international cooperation with the US Embassy in Kazakhstan.

It is worth noting that the KRU named after A. Baitursynov has developed strong relations with the US Embassy. In particular, cooperation is carried out within the framework of the Fulbright Teacher Assistant (Fulbright Teaching Assistant), UniCEN programs, which are primarily aimed at improving the methodology of teaching English, participation in the KazTEA conference (Kazti) and many other projects.

This academic year, Elizabeth Olguin in the Department of Foreign Languages ​​(U. Sultangazin Pedagogical Institute) and Anezhka Boyle (Department of Foreign Philology, P. Chuzhinov Institute of Economics and Law) are teaching English at the university under the Fulbright Teacher Assistant Program.

In addition, the university’s faculty is involved in several collaborative projects with the University of Oklahoma – Norman Campus and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. As part of these projects, our scientists are involved in developing evidence-based curricula in the field of renewable energy and environmental protection, and a new online course on renewable energy has been developed that will be implemented in the master’s program.

In turn, the American side expressed a desire to introduce Kazakh language courses in partner universities.

The meeting also discussed further prospects for cooperation between KRU and US universities. In particular, in matters of academic mobility of students, internships for scientists, doctoral students, and master's students, including within the framework of scholarship programs.

The conversation was also attended by the Acting Chairman of the Board - Rector of the KRU named after A. Baitursynov Erbol Isakaev, directors of institutes and vice-rectors. The US Embassy was represented by Asiyat Suleimenov - assistant for culture and education, Ainur Sembayeva - employee of the public relations department of the US Embassy.

Both sides expressed hope that mutual cooperation will contribute to improving the quality of personnel training and providing the region’s economy, and the country as a whole, with qualified specialists with good knowledge and skills in English.
