Writing Academic Papers Is a Skill That Must Be Mastered

Today, as part of the KRU Winter School, a seminar titled “Requirements for Academic Articles in Peer-Reviewed Journals (KKSON, Scopus, Web of Science)” was held.

The purpose of the seminar was to help participants understand the logic behind article evaluation in KKSON, Scopus, and Web of Science (WoS), as well as to avoid common mistakes made by authors.

What should researchers consider when choosing an academic journal? How can they identify the scope of a scientific article and structure it correctly? Participants received answers to all these questions.

Publication is a key instrument of an academic career. Researchers are often required to publish in journals recommended by the KKSON of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Committee for Quality Assurance in Education and Science) or indexed in international scientific databases such as Scopus and Web of Science.

Such publications are essential for dissertation defense, professional development, participation in grant programs, and the formation of university research rankings.

During the seminar, Olga Sisina, Methodologist at the KRU Department of Science and Commercialization, presented a list of KKSON-recommended journals, explained the rules for working with international scientific databases Scopus/WoS, and demonstrated how to assess the scientific significance of a journal using mini case studies.
