Laura Zholdaspekova, Senior lecturer of the Department of Journalism and Communication Management at Baitursynuly University delivered an open lecture on "Foreign Journalism" discipline.
Topic: "American Journalism of the 17th–19th Centuries."
This lecture allowed the 1-year students elve deeper into the origins of print media in the United States. The lecturer focused on role of journalism in America’s fight for independence, The formation of press freedom and the influence of major 19th-century newspapers on public opinion, as well as the rise of "gutter press", high-quality publications, and the development of journalistic standards.
Students compared historical journalism to modern media in an interactive dialogue, gaining a deeper understanding of international press systems.
This lecture was a part of the "Panorama of Methodological Ideas" month initiative.
