Who Will Go to the USA?

Representatives of the FLEX scholarship program conducted testing for school students from the Kostanay region at Baitursynuly University.

This week, the final round of testing concluded, where the strongest candidates competed for the chance to study in the United States. For several years, Baitursynuly University has supported the program by providing a location for the testing process.

FLEX, a cultural and educational exchange program for high school students, was established by U.S. Senator Bill Bradley. Fully funded by the U.S. government and supported by the Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan, the program enables students to study at U.S. high schools and live with host families.

Over its 30-year history, more than 3,000 students from Kazakhstan have participated in the program.

Alima Bazarbayeva, a FLEX program assistant, remarked:

“One of the program’s outstanding alumni is Arystan Moldabekov, who currently holds the position of CFO (Chief Financial Officer) at Citibank Kazakhstan. He was awarded The Best CFO of the Year at the Kazakhstan Growth Forum and attended the 30th-anniversary celebration of the program this year.”

The program enjoys a high reputation among high school students and fosters cultural connections between students from Kazakhstan and the United States.
