Quality Indicators for Academic Programs

Kostanay Regional University (KRU) is actively implementing international quality standards. Today, as part of Winter School 2026, faculty members of Baitursynuly University participated in a seminar focused on updating academic programs in the context of the QS World University Rankings.

Members of academic committees and department chairs gained valuable, practice-driven insights. The seminar placed a strong emphasis on improving the quality of academic programs and strengthening their global competitiveness in alignment with international ranking requirements.

The event was held within the strategic area “Design and Update of Academic Programs” and centered on participation in the international subject rankings QS by Subject.

The keynote speaker was Aigul Aktymbayeva, CEO of Transform.Lead.Change LLP and a recognized expert in higher education.

The seminar covered core QS subject-ranking indicators, methods for improving program ranking positions, and approaches to aligning curricula with global academic standards.

A dedicated practical session focused on a comparative analysis of KRU’s academic programs against those offered by universities ranked in the Top 300 of QS subject rankings. The workshop was based on results from a pilot project carried out by the seminar moderators and organizers.

The findings were introduced as a scalable model for further curriculum enhancement and will serve as a framework for updating other academic programs at the university.

The seminar is part of KRU’s ongoing institutional efforts to adopt international models for evaluating academic-program quality and to increase the university’s impact and competitiveness in the global education landscape.
