AI as Support, Not a Replacement

As part of the Winter School, Baitursynuly University hosted a workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence in a Lecturer’s Work: From Material Preparation to Student Interaction.”

The speaker was Kalybek Maulenov, Head of the Department of Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence at KRU.

During the session, he discussed with participants how intelligent technologies can assist lecturers in their daily work: analyzing educational texts, preparing lecture and teaching materials more efficiently, simplifying the explanation of complex topics, and expanding formats of interaction with students.

In the practical part of the workshop, participants created their own digital avatars and generated audio podcasts and video materials related to their academic disciplines, which can be used in the teaching and learning process.

Special attention was paid to the role of AI as a lecturer’s assistant—not as a replacement, but as a tool for improving the quality of education and saving time.

The workshop aligns with the objectives of the AI-Sana innovative program, aimed at developing AI competencies among faculty members and integrating intelligent technologies into the higher education teaching and learning process.
