THE MAIN GOAL IS TO INCLUDE CHILDREN IN SOCIETY

Today, Kostanay Regional University hosted the seminar “From Inclusive Policy to Inclusive Practice.”

Faculty members of our university and teachers from schools across the region discussed current issues related to the implementation of the state inclusive education policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the development of teachers’ inclusive competencies and the need to master applied tools, including ABA therapy.

Kazakhstan is steadily moving toward providing accessible education for all.

Inclusive education is not merely an educational trend, but a necessity that must be implemented gradually at a systemic level.

Inclusive classrooms are being established in schools, staffed by special education teachers, speech therapists, psychologists, tutors, and teaching assistants.

During the seminar, Aigul Mukasheva, methodologist of the Inclusion Support Unit at the Alikhan Bokeikhan Secondary School in Kostanay, shared her experience of organizing an inclusive classroom and spoke about the methods used by specialists:

“We help children develop skills they initially lacked and form appropriate learning behavior. The most important thing is to include children in society.”

Zhanara Doshchanova, Head of the Psychological and Pedagogical Support Center of Kostanay, spoke about comprehensive support for children:

“Correctional technologies are not standardized; each child requires an individual approach. Only teamwork leads to results.
The family is part of the team. When a child’s family is equally involved alongside specialists, skills are reinforced more effectively.”

By sharing practical cases and presenting new tools and inclusive technologies, the experts provided valuable information for students of the Department of Pedagogy, Psychology, and Special Education at the Pedagogical Institute of KRU.

Practicing experts also noted that they are pleased to see the special attention our university pays to developing inclusive competencies among future teachers and to mastering applied tools such as ABA therapy. Graduates of KRU are welcomed by employers as well-prepared specialists in this field.
