Astana hosted Kazakh-Russian forum focused on teaching financial literacy to students.
Among the speakers were Zhanat Elimanov, President of the Financial Monitoring Agency; Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Nurlykhan Temirbekov, Vice-Rector for Social and Educational Work at Baitursynuly University.
Minister Sayasat Nurbek stressed the importance of building a consistent approach to improving financial literacy:
- With cyber fraud on the rise, we’ve begun rolling out financial literacy courses in schools and universities that explain key issues in plain language. Ongoing international cooperation is also essential for preparing skilled professionals.
Yuri Chikhanchin, head of Russia’s Federal Financial Monitoring Service, noted the importance of the long-term partnership between Kazakhstan and Russia in countering financial threats.
Rectors from leading Russian universities spoke about how they’ve integrated financial literacy into their curricula.
