English Language Capacity for STEM Fields Students

Baitursynuly University students have the opportunity to study English for free as part of the English for STEM project.

To identify the most promising STEM and IT students with high academic results, an average level of English proficiency and a clear desire to take advantage of English language courses is the goal of this program. In addition, the project provides an opportunity to continue studying in the United States using various opportunities, including scholarships from the Government of Kazakhstan. This is important due to the fact that STEM and IT specialists with knowledge of English are in great demand in Kazakhstan, and the program is aimed at supporting this group of students, especially from rural areas and regional cities.

The project is coordinated by the Ministry of Education, the Bolashak Center for International Programs and regional partner universities, in which Baitursynuly University is one of the partners. In addition to Kostanay, the project is being implemented in Oskemen, with 30 students studying in each city.

As part of the program, a meeting was held with Nicholas Drapeau, Project Director, and Olga Paterova, coordinator of English language programs at the U.S. Embassy.

The students shared their impressions and the results of the project, and together with the program coordinator Haddie Holly Beckham took part in the discussion.
