Dialogue Between Science and Business

A professor from a Lithuanian university is consulting Kostanay entrepreneurs at Baitursynuly University.

Baitursynuly University is confidently moving beyond the traditional university format and increasingly becoming part of the global academic community. In the current academic year alone, the university has hosted ten international scholars from Lithuania, Türkiye, Slovakia, the United States, and Poland. Faculty members from South Korea and the United States are also working at the university.

Ahmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University has established partnerships with dozens of foreign universities in the most in-demand professional fields. Academic mobility provides students with unique experience, improves language proficiency, and enhances their competitiveness in the labor market.

Professor Vladas Vitunskė of Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania), an expert in rural development, has been actively cooperating with Baitursynuly University for several years. Previously, she served as an advisor to the President of Lithuania and has extensive experience in regional development. She arrived in Kostanay with a project focused on launching a circular economy model.

“This is not an abstract concept from textbooks,” the professor emphasizes. “It is a real, already functioning tool that helps regions develop sustainably, use resources rationally, and remain competitive.”

During her visit, the expert toured several major enterprises in the Kostanay region and worked closely with faculty members and students of the Faculty of Economics and Law at Baitursynuly University. She also noted that it was important for her not only to share her experience, but also to study the region itself—its economy, environmental conditions, and social context.

“This visit has been a mutual learning process for me,” Vladas Vitunskė noted. “I visited plants producing agricultural machinery, passenger and freight vehicles, as well as the enterprise Kostanay Minerals. Many elements of the circular economy had already been applied here before. Today, however, these approaches are becoming more systematic and conscious.”

This week, the visiting scholar met with representatives of major enterprises and government bodies of the Kostanay region. At a round table titled “Implementation of Circular Economy Principles in Industry: Directions, Benefits, and Business Solutions,” Professor Vitunskė delivered the keynote address.

The central focus of her presentation was the introduction of circular economy principles in Lithuania’s agricultural sector through eco-schemes of the EU Common Agricultural Policy.

The meeting became a platform for genuine dialogue between science, business, and education, where practical solutions for the sustainable development of the region were discussed. Students and faculty members of Baitursynuly University actively participated in the discussion.

Baitursynuly University continues to move confidently toward global academic cooperation, prioritizing quality education, research, and sustainable development, while encouraging young people to engage in active international dialogue.
