190 cows, Paris and a new life

The 4th year student of Baitursynuly University Aldiyar ESTAY is spending this summer on industrial practice in Germany.

The student of the KRU Department of Veterinary Sanitation answered our questions.

WHERE DO YOU LIVE?

- In spring I flew to Frankfurt am Main. Here, training seminars were organised for all trainee students. Then we travelled to our own companies - our internship bases. My boss Ingo Fabricius met me at the railway station. He introduced me to his family.  I was very lucky, they are very nice people. I live in the house of the chief's parents. They treat me like family.

WAS IT EASY TO TALK?

 - It wasn't easy at first. After three months, I can understand and speak. This is for the students. Don't be afraid, take the course! Get the basic skills. And then the language environment will help you.

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT?

- I can say that today I am already trusted with technology. Every morning and evening - automated milking. By the way, the farm has 190 cows plus many calves. I feed the animals, clean them, and participate in the veterinarian's examination. The working day starts at six in the morning. Every week there is a weekly report on work and new skills. I learnt a lot of new skills in practice. I have delivered cows more than once and treated them. There is a high level of automation, hygiene, teamwork. Besides, I get paid a salary and there are practically no expenses.

WHAT ABOUT A HOLIDAY?

- Travelling around Germany this weekend. I've travelled outside the country too,  I've been to Paris! There are a lot of local holidays here. The chief's family takes me with them everywhere. In July, at a general seminar, all Kazakhstani students were gathered together. We were given excursions to different enterprises: beekeeping, where roses are grown... We also visited a real castle!

DO YOU MISS HOME?

- I'm from Karasu, it's the first time I've been so far away from home. My parents were worried, of course. We've been calling each other, and we send them a big hello. Of course I miss them. But I'm interested in this place, it's a future plan.

WHAT IS THE RESULT?

- Foreign practice is an opportunity for development in the profession and personal growth, a good school of independence. Plus responsibility. After all, in a foreign country you are the face of our republic, our people and, of course, our university.  I am lucky to have entered KRU. There are great opportunities for development here!
