An Opportunity to Gain Essential Knowledge

Representatives of the Police Department and the Department of Economic Investigations of the Kostanay Region met with students of the U. Sultangazin Pedagogical Institute at Kostanay Regional University.

The event was held in a live format and featured thematic presentations aimed at increasing students' awareness of modern threats and ways to prevent them.

Yertan Kazbaev, an officer of the Cybercrime Unit of the Police Department, gave a detailed talk about various types of online fraud and the specifics of cybercrimes.

He explained how to recognize attempts at online scams, what methods cybercriminals use, and provided practical advice on how to protect personal data on the internet.

Hamza Ualikhan, Senior Lieutenant and Investigator of the Department of Economic Investigations, spoke about "dropper" schemes.

He described how criminals exploit new types of economic fraud, the risks and consequences of such crimes, and the work law enforcement agencies do to investigate and prevent them.

Captain Bekzat Zhanburshinov, an officer of the Organized Crime Control Unit, addressed the issues of bullying and extortion, providing specific examples such as rumor-spreading, insults on social media, physical and psychological pressure, threats, and demands for money or property under the threat of harm.

He outlined the types of punishment provided by law for bullying and extortion — ranging from administrative fines to criminal liability, including imprisonment in especially severe cases.

Special attention was given to crime prevention and the support available for victims.

Events like these offer young people a real opportunity to gain vital knowledge about modern threats, understand the importance of safety both online and offline, and establish open dialogue with law enforcement representatives.

The insights gained will help students stay more vigilant and better protected.
