On February 2, the world celebrates International Wetlands Day, and the Department of Natural Sciences at U. Sultangazin Pedagogical Institute of Baitursynuly University is no exception.
For over 20 years, the department has upheld a wonderful tradition hosting an environmental event dedicated to wetlands. This year, the event brought together biology and geography students, as well as teachers from School-Lyceum №1 and School-Lyceum №2 in Kostanay.
The event was organized by the Research Center for Ecology and Biology, Professor Tatiana Bragina, a Senior Lecturer Maria Rulyova, and the University’s Birdwatching Club.
The professor Tatiana Bragina shared insights about the celebration and Kazakhstan’s achievements in preserving the key water systems for biodiversity conservation. Notably, alongside her husband who is the Candidate of Biological Sciences Evgeny Bragin, she played a crucial role in securing internationally recognized status for five wetlands in Kazakhstan!
The leader of the Student Birdwatching Club, Daniil Khristinetsky, hosted an engaging quiz on wetland and waterfowl birds. The event left all the participants in high spirits, and the winners even received prizes!
