Learning More About Ourselves

Faculty members of the Department of Natural Sciences of the Pedagogical Institute have planned a series of educational and popular science seminars and workshops for Silver University participants, scheduled from January 30 to March 25.

The aim of the program “Biodiversity of the Kostanay Region” is to discuss natural processes, geography, and the conditions of mineral and rock formation, as well as the biological diversity of the region.

The first seminar, titled “The History of the Development of Life on Earth,” has already taken place.

As part of the event, participants visited the Natural History Museum.

The seminar was moderated by Sergey Kurlov, Senior Lecturer of the Department.

During the seminar, participants discussed the geochronological history of the Earth, the stages of the emergence and development of life, and explored exhibits from the Cretaceous and Paleogene periods, collected in the area of the Kushmurun lignite open-pit mine in the Kostanay region.

Based on field research materials, laboratory processing and identification of fossils were carried out.

The program participants actively engaged in the seminar and expressed their gratitude to the faculty of the department and to the seminar speaker, Sergey Kurlov.
