KRU Student Claims Victory in Arkalyk

Bakhtiyar Yermekbay, a second-year student of the Department of Theory and Practice of Physical Culture and Sports at KRU, has won a kokpar competition held as part of the 39th Summer Spartakiad, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the city of Arkalyk.

The young athlete competed as a member of the Kostanay District team, which emerged victorious among 12 participating teams. After a highly competitive tournament, the Kostanay kokpar team secured first place and received a cash prize of KZT 2 million.

For Bakhtiyar, kokpar is much more than a sport. His passion for this traditional equestrian game began in childhood. He first rode a horse at the age of seven and started practicing kokpar at the age of 12, gradually mastering the skills and techniques of this national sport.

Today, the KRU student plays as a midfielder in kokpar. This position requires speed, agility, courage, and the ability to make quick decisions while on horseback.

Congratulations to Bakhtiyar and his team on their well-deserved victory! We wish them continued success, many more impressive wins, and new sporting achievements!
