Password “Louvre.” Seriously?!

Specialists from the Department of Economic Investigations for the Kostanay Region shared valuable insights with KRU students.

The meeting, held as part of the Law and Order initiative, focused on “Digital Traps: How Not to Become a Victim of Fraud.”

Notably, the speakers were graduates of KRU’s Class of 2023.

Supporting the session was a digital assistant — virtual officer Aidos, whose mission is to combat cybercrime.

He explained to students how to turn their smartphones into real fortresses: how to set secure PIN codes, replace simple combinations like birth dates with complex ones, and protect devices using biometric authentication.

One of the speakers’ life hacks was the “knight’s move”: choose a letter and move in an L-shape across the keyboard to create a strong PIN code.

The guests also demonstrated schemes used for remote phone control and explained which applications should be avoided — especially interactive games.

The meeting was rich with real-life examples: the speakers even recalled the legendary Louvre heist, where the surveillance system password turned out to be… “Louvre.”

The event felt like a true master class, filled with stories and practical advice to help students protect themselves in the digital world.
