Regional Olympiad in English among students in grades 11

On January 15, the Department of Foreign Philology held a regional Olympiad in English among students of schools in the city of Kostanay and Kostanay region. A total of 105 students registered.

The Olympiad consisted of two rounds: written and oral. According to the results of the written tour, 14 people passed the required threshold level. The finalists were offered a task to test the oral language skills - a conversation on a problematic topic in English. Among the finalists were students of secondary school No. 9, No. 17 of the city of Kostanay, boarding school named after Y. Altynsarin, school of the Lyceum No. 4 of the city of Rudny, the gymnasium No. 2 of the city of Rudny, the gymnasium of Lisakovsk and the secondary school of the village of Fedorovka.

During the break between the rounds in the auditorium, the Department of Foreign Philology and students organized a meeting with students and talked about the educational programs of the department and student life. With great interest, the participants of the Olympiad listened to the presentation by the Honorary Professor of KSU Mansiya Kalmagambetovna Samambet on the topic “What a wonderful world of a word!” (“What a miracle these are words!”)

According to the results of two rounds, the places were distributed as follows: Tumar Manabaeva (Gymnasium No. 2, Rudny) took 1st place, Dmitry Valutaev (Lyceum School No. 4, Rudny) and Madina Utemisova (secondary school No. 17 of Kostanay) took 3rd place. Daniil Bugakov (secondary school of the village of Fedorovka) and Violet Karimov (secondary school No. 17, Kostanay).

The rector’s grant to study at KSU named after A. Baitursynov is awarded to the winner - Tumar Manabaeva.

The children who won prizes were awarded diplomas and prizes, and all participants in the Olympiad received a certificate of participation.
