Today, Baitursynuly University Rector Seitbek Kuanisbaev, along with city and regional officials, visited the future site of a major new city park on Abay Avenue.
According to @kstnews.kz, construction is already in full swing. By City Day, the space will transform into a fully functional park – complete with an amphitheater, 1 km-long running and cycling paths, outdoor fitness zones, and a skate park.
– The park will cover 4.25 hectares and include walkways, recreational areas, benches, and a lush landscaping, – shared Arsain Baidauletov, Head of the City Construction Department, – we’re planting over 600 trees, nearly 1,000 shrubs, and installing a public restroom facility.
Kostanay region Akim Kumar Aksakalov noted that the park is just the beginning. The same site will also host a future campus of the University of Minnesota Morris – a respected U.S. institution that already partners with Baitursynuly University on a dual-degree program.
– This is more than just an upgrade to city infrastructure – it’s an investment in the future of our children, emphasized Aksakalov, – Young people in Kostanay will soon have access to world-class education. The park and campus project is a step toward building a vibrant, modern, and inspiring city – a place where people want to grow, learn, and thrive.
