Today, on February 19, 2021, the international scientific and practical conference "Continuing Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Context of Modern Challenges to the Educational System", dedicated to the 180th anniversary of Y. Altynsarin, was held at the A. Baitursynov KRU. In the context of the pandemic, the organizers of the Altynsarin Readings changed the usual format of the conference and moved it online.
Within the framework of the event, Vice-Rector for Science, Internationalization and Digitalization Nurlan Medetov made a welcoming speech. He emphasized the consonance of Y. Altynsarin's ideas with modern challenges and the strategy for the development of continuing education in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
At the plenary session, reports were made by leading scientists of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation: Vice-President of the Y. Altynsarin National Academy of Education Isatai Sagindikov; Professor of MGIMO Elena Berezhnova – Head of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of the State University of Humanities and Technology G.I. Skudarev (Moscow); Associate Professor, Honorary Worker of General Education of the Russian Federation Zalfira Zamaletdinova (Kazan); Director of the Kostanay branch of JSC NCPK "Orleu" Marionella Slesar. They raised a wide range of problems: the key role of the pedagogical heritage of Y. Altynsarin in the formation of value orientations and priorities of modern education in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the combination of tradition and innovation in the professional training of teachers, the idea of pre-professional pedagogical competence of high school students and the technology of its formation, scientific and methodological aspects of the development of functional literacy of students.

At 4 sections, 318 materials were presented, which presented the experience and effective practices of implementing educational programs at various levels, substantiated the need to improve the professionalism of teachers in the light of updating the content of education, presented innovative technologies and formats of psychological and pedagogical support for the development of the personality of students.
The participants of the conference noted that transformations are taking place in the modern education system, which need to be discussed at the dialogue platforms of the international pedagogical community, and the Altynsarin Readings have been providing such an opportunity for several years.
