On February 2, 2023, the Department of natural science disciplines of Kostanay regional university named after A. Baitursynov traditionally held an international holiday-Wetlands Day - an annual event for the protection and restoration of aquatic ecosystems and biodiversity. Wetlands are natural or artificial water areas (seas, oceans, lakes, river banks, etc.) that have a special Biological Diversity. In Kazakhstan, on an area of more than 200 million hectares, more than 2,300 wetlands in the world have been granted international status, of which 10 are wetlands of international importance, and 4 are in the Kostanay region. Within the walls of the University, the holiday has traditionally been held for 21 years. The holiday was organized by the research center of Ecology and biology of the KRU named after A. Baitursynov under the guidance of Doctor of biological sciences, Professor T. M. Bragina. The purpose of the event: to expand knowledge and call for active actions on the protection of the most important water systems of the world and the country, their flora and fauna. The meeting was held within the framework of the week of the Department 2023.
Participants received extensive knowledge of the state and importance of wetlands. 1st year undergraduates T. Sokolovskaya, E. Tarasenko, L. Shvan prepared the book- quiz «Know! Think! Explore!» the quiz biology, chemistry and geography" was attended by students and teachers of the Department. The holiday was bright, informative and emotional!
